Ureterocele represents abnormal dilatation of the distal ureteric segment. Ureteroceles may be associated with either a single or a duplex ureter. Ureteric duplication is present in about 75% of cases of ureteroceles. Ureteroceles have a female predilection.

Ureteroceles can be further classified into simple and ectopic types.
