Patent ductus arteriosus

Discussion:

Patent ductus arteriosus is a congenital cardiac anomaly where there is persistent patency of the ductus arteriosus, a normal connection of the fetal circulation between the aorta and the pulmonary artery. It normally closes 24-48 hours after birth, and its persistence can lead to a left-to-right shunt.
