Intramuscular myxoma

Discussion:

MRI features of a well-circumscribed intramuscular mass within the tibialis muscle with no extension to the adjacent soft tissues.

The patient went on to have surgical resection of the tumor with a histopathological exam that confirmed the diagnosis of an intramuscular myxoma.

Intramuscular myxomas are a rare benign type of soft tissue myxoma that is mesenchymal in origin. Most frequently diagnosed in females (~57%) patients between 40-70 years.
