What are the most common sonographic findings in ectopic pregnancy?

The most common sonographic finding in ectopic pregnancy is a complex or solid heterogeneous adnexal mass that is separate from the ovary. The mass may demonstrate various degrees of echogenicity depending on the age of the blood products. The second most common sonographic finding (like in this particular case) is an echogenic ring in the adnexa surrounding an unruptured ectopic pregnancy, which is known as the tubal ring sign. Circumferential vascularity can be often seen with color doppler.

Presentation

The patient came to the emergency department with right lower quadrant abdominal tenderness and sporadic vaginal bleeding for seven days. The patient did not have fever, nausea, or vomiting. Qualitative and quantitative beta HCG tests were run at the emergency department and came back positive.
