Please name the origin of the term B symptoms.

They refer to the Ann Arbor classification of lymphomas and are one of the prognostic factors. Stage B indicates the presence of above mentioned symptoms.

That would really make things easy, wouldn't it? Computer aided diagnosis at its best. They can also be seen in other malignancies and in non-malignant entities, e.g. tuberculosis, infections, inflammatory conditions. Some authors prefer the term constitutional symptoms in the latter states.
