MRI
If T1 hyper intensity is present, what is the underlying basis of this?
Presence of mucin or less commonly haemorrhagic products
How are the mucinous ovarian tumours graded?
1. Mucinous cystadenoma of the ovary 2. Borderline mucinous cystadenoma of the ovary 3. Mucinous cystadenocarcinoma of the ovary
What complication can a rupture of cystadenoma lead to?
Can lead to pseudomyxoma peritonii
Multiple large cysts arising from the ovaries (larger on the left) with predominantly high signal on T2. Some smaller cysts on the right are hypointense on T2 and hyperintense on T1. No solid vascularised components.
FINAL DIAGNOSIS
Mucinous cystadenoma of the ovary
