Bilateral hilar lymph node enlargement
Discussion:
The PA chest x-ray in an asymptomatic patient include bilateral hilar enlarged lymph nodes without frank parenchymal involvement, could be suggestive of stage I sarcoidosis.
Other main differential diagnoses for bilateral enlargement of hilar lymph nodes include:
- lymphoma: more common in Hodgkin lymphoma than non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
- infection: tuberculosis, mycoplasma, histoplasmosis
- inorganic dust disease: silicosis, berylliosis
