Are there any concerning features on the plain film? If so, what?
There is no free gas, but the loop of bowel in the right iliac fossa is dilated to almost 4 cm and is a little featureless.
What blood tests (if any) would be helpful here?
FBC (looking at WBC), U&Es, CRP, lactate and an arterial blood gas to determine acidosis would all be helpful.
No evidence of perforation or obstruction. Solitary loop of small bowel in the right iliac fossa. No subdiaphragmatic free gas. Features of chronic airway disease.
