It is the thin linear opacity projecting just above the hyoid bone (click through for the annotated image).
Most patients present with a "foreign body feeling" but what percentage actually have a fish bone in the pharynx?
Approximately 20%.
Name some indirect signs of an ingested fish bone?
Prevertebral soft tissue swelling or gas.
Bony foreign body lodged anterior to the epiglottis. No prevertebral soft tissue thickening. No soft tissue gas.
