Giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath

Discussion:

This case demonstrates the ultrasound appearance of a giant cell tumor of tendon sheath.

50% of cases are diagnosed in patients younger than 40 years of age, with a peak incidence between 40 and 50 years of age. There is a slight female predilection.

They are associated with degenerative joint disease, especially in the distal interphalangeal (DIP) joint.
