Osteomyelitis is a complication of periapical infections or secondary bacterial insults to tooth extractions, broken teeth, infected wounds or dental cyst.

Bone infections causes toothache, fever, swelling, lymphadenitis. If no action is taken promptly, dental osteomyelitis can develop into abscesses and fistulas.
