The MRI sequences demonstrate an intra-axial lesion of the left frontoinsular region, isointense centrally on T1WI, hyperintense on FLAIR and T2WI, with a peripheral component hypointense on T1WI, and FLAIR, and hyperintense on T2WI, surrounded by subtle oedema.
The DWI shows high signal centrally with low ADC (restricted diffusion) and low signal peripherally with high ADC, due to a reduction in the extracellular space and increased viscosity.
No evidence of arteriovenous malformation (AVM) or aneurysm.
