Chris O'Donnell

Chris is a specialist necroradiologist and consultant forensic radiologist at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM), and adjunct senior lecturer, Department of Forensic Medicine, Monash University.  He also works as a clinical radiologist.  He installed one of the world’s first mortuary-based CT scanners at VIFM in 2005 and was lead radiologist in the Black Saturday bushfire DVI operation in 2009.  He has trained many local and international forensic pathologists and radiologists in post-mortem CT (PMCT).

Chris is convenor of an annual short course in PMCT interpretation for Monash University that has now become a unit of the Monash University Master of Forensic Medicine programme.  He provides expert opinion on forensic matters to the criminal justice system of Victoria and other states of Australia. He is past chair of the International Society of Forensic Radiology and Imaging, and is currently overseeing the installation of an MRI scanner into the mortuary at VIFM.
