Dr Yuranga Weerakkody is a consultant radiologist with subspecialist interest and expertise in many areas but primarily in thoracic, vascular and some aspects of oncology imaging.

During early stages of radiopaedia, he assisted in building the foundations of what is now most of thoracic imaging and obstetrics and gynaecology article content. He has been with the editorial board for more than a decade and was managing editor from 2011 to 2020.

He is an associate editor for the Journal of Medical Imaging and Radiation Oncology and is a editorial panel member for Diagnostic Imaging Pathways Western Australia. 

He is an advocate for medical imaging excellence with academic commitments in registrar training within the Western Australian Radiology State Training program as well as parts of the radiology component in the undergraduate medical training program of the University of Western Australia.
