Gross anatomy
The meniscocapsular ligament is a collagenous structure of the posteromedial corner of the knee and connects the base of the medial meniscus to the posterior knee capsule 1-3. It features a close anatomical relationship to the posterior coronary or meniscotibial ligament, which is located deep and inferiorly and attaches the posterior horn of the medial meniscus to the proximal tibia 1. Both ligaments merge with tendon fibers of the capsular arm of the semimembranosus tendon 1.
Radiographic features
The meniscocapsular ligament can be best identified in the sagittal plane as a thin hypointense structure superior to the coronary ligament merging with the posterior knee capsule 3.
Related pathology
Ramp lesions are a pathology associated with the meniscocapsular ligament 1-3.
