Presentation

Right neck swelling.

Patient Data

Age: 55 years
Gender: Female
ct

There is a 30 x 35 mm well-circumscribed thick-walled cystic mass lesion lateral to the carotid sheath and deep to the sternocleidomastoid muscle.

Few hypodense thyroid nodules are seen

Hypodence thyroid nodule with calcified focus at thyroid isthmus.

Case Discussion

The imaging features suggest a complicated 2nd branchial cleft cyst as the probable diagnosis, but an enlarged lymph node with necrotic changes is also possible regarding the CT imaging features.

The patient with low socioeconomic status did not adhere to the prescribed treatment plan or follow up with recommended imaging studies.
