Presentation
Chronic medial elbow pain. History of old trauma to elbow.
Patient Data
Fracture of medial epicondyle with areas of minimal gap and other areas demonstrating corticated fracture edges (pseudoarthrosis), in keeping with fracture non-union.
Minimally displaced fracture non-union of medial humeral epicondyle with completely corticated fracture surface and pseudoarthrosis with the humerus. Adjacent small detached corticated bony fragments are also noted.
Minimally displaced fracture of medial epicondyle with corticated fracture surfaces and pseudoarthrosis with the humerus.
Case Discussion
Features are consistent with fracture non-union of medial epicondyle avulsion fracture. Medial epicondyle fracture is a common avulsion injury of the elbow in children and adolescents as the last ossification center of the elbow, less common in adults. It is the origin of ulnar collateral ligament and flexor-pronator mass muscles as a common flexor origin.
