Presentation
Left wrist pain and history of old trauma 6 months prior.
Patient Data
Non-union left ulnar styloid fracture seen as well-corticated bone fragments.
Negative ulnar variance noted.
No destructive osseous lesions.
Maintained alignment of left radiocarpal joint.
Case Discussion
Imaging findings of non-union fracture on the radiograph are the ends of fracture fragments are sclerotic and smooth, bones are joined by fibrous tissues and absent of callus formation.
Ulnar styloid fractures' most common type is small avulsion fractures involving the tip of the ulnar styloid with transverse fractures through the base being less common.
Negative ulnar variance describes a state where the ulna is abnormally shortened (by more than 2.5 mm) compared to the radius.
