Normal infant diaphragmatic ultrasound

Presentation

Preterm baby at 33 weeks. Congenital imperforate anus. Done colostomy. Noted on chest X-ray elevated central diaphragm. To look for diaphragmatic deformity.

Patient Data

Age: 5.5 months
Gender: Female
ultrasound

Both hemidiaphragms demonstrate normal movement with the excursion of right measures 6.0mm and left 4.0mm. (Normal value more than 4.0mm, with the difference between both side is less than 50%)

No paradoxical movement of both hemidiaphragms. 

The visualized hemidiaphragms appear smooth in outline with no apparent eventration. No defect was seen. 

Case Discussion

No sonography evidence of right diaphragmatic paralysis or diaphragmatic defect.
