Sciatic nerve injury

Presentation

Right upper posterior thigh region stab injury about 3 weeks before the presentation. Presented with lower limb weakness, difficulty in walking. Referred for an ultrasound evaluation of the sciatic nerve.

Patient Data

Age: 20 years
Gender: Male
ultrasound

There is a discontinuity of the sciatic nerve deep to the skin scar in the lower gluteal/ uppermost posterior thigh region. There is a gap of about 30 mm between to ends of the nerve. The cut ends of the nerve show edema. There is healed injury of adjacent muscle. There is no collection.
