Presentation

Sepsis, intravenous drug user.

Patient Data

Age: 35 years

Chest radiograph

x-ray

Scattered bilateral focal areas of pulmonary consolidation. No discrete cavities. Pleural spaces are clear. Mediastinal contours and heart silhouette are normal.

Case Discussion

Case illustrating poorly marginated nodular-like pulmonary consolidation in an young adult on sepsis and background history of intravenous drug use.

CT Chest (not shown) days later confirmed other typical features of septic emboli.
