ultrasound

There is a well-defined hypoechoic lesion at the site of maximum tenderness. It is on the radial side of the subungual region. The lesion measures about 2.5 x 2.1 x 1.7 mm. There is suspicious erosion on the underlying cortex. There are no calcification/cystic changes in the lesion. The lesion shows hypervascularity.

Case Discussion

A young male presented with the atraumatic origin of localized pain in the index fingertip for the last few months. He was referred with a clinical diagnosis of glomangioma. The ultrasound revealed a subungual nodule with hypervascularity favoring a glomangioma. Surgical excision was done and histopathology suggested the lesion being a glomangioma.
