Synovial cyst from degenerative facet joint disease

Presentation

Back pain.

Patient Data

Age: 80 years
Gender: Female

Laminectomy and spinal fixation at L3-S1 levels, multilevel reduced disc height/hydration with normal vertebral alignment. 

L2-3 level: diffuse disc bulge minimally indenting the thecal sac, bilateral facet joint arthropathy with effusion and facet joint hypertrophy, and right-sided 10 x 8 mm facet joint synovial cyst encroaching on the thecal sac displacing it into the left side abutting the traversing nerve roots and causing right lateral recess stenosis and lumbar foraminal stenosis.

Bilateral renal cysts.
