Left hip pain and inability to bear weight after a fall.

Displaced left transcervical femoral neck fracture.

Confirms displaced left transcervical femoral neck fracture.

Case Discussion

Transcervical fractures are one of three types of femoral neck fractures: the other two are subcapital and basicervical. Because transcervical fractures are intracapsular, they may interrupt the blood supply to the femoral head, resuting in avascular necrosis.
