AML with haemorrhage

Presentation:

Sudden spontaneous onset of left sided flank and abdominal pain.

Case Discussion:

This case demonstrates a left sided fat density mass arising from the cortex of the left kidney with surrounding haemorrhage. The features and presentation are characteristic of a renal angiomyolipoma (AML) which, especially when large, present with spontaneous retroperitoneal haemorrhage. This condition is also sometimes termed as Wunderlich's syndrome.
