Presentation
A patient with tuberous sclerosis was referred due to abdominal pain and distension.
Patient Data
Bilateral markedly enlarged both kidneys (LK: 17 x 32 cm and RK: 11 x 20 cm) with near total replacement of their parenchyma by fat-containing masses interspersed with solid components consistent with renal angiomyolipomas.
There is a 20 mm lesion at the midpole of the left kidney that could be a cyst.
Bi-lobar hepatic lipomas with a maximum diameter of up to 25 mm are seen.
Hypodense cystic lesions are seen at both adnexa with a maximum diameter of up to 25 x 38 mm on the right side and 40 x 50 mm on the left side (endometrioma cysts on the US exam).
Case Discussion
Bilateral giant renal angiomyolipomas in a known case of tuberous sclerosis. The typical appearance of an AML on CT is a cortical mass containing fat attenuation.
