Encephalomalacia in the left parieto-occipital lobes and curvilinear T1 and FLAIR hyperintense signals representing residual cortical and pial tissue.

Case Discussion

Visible remnants of cortex in the setting of cerebral infarction, sometimes mineralized or calcified, should not be mistaken for cortical laminar necrosis that represents focal damage just to some layers of the cortex.
