Presentation
Headache.
Patient Data
Obliteration of paranasal sinuses, with expansion of left sphenoid sinus, appears hyperintense signal in T1W and hypointense in T2WI, a pseudo-pneumatized sign.
Also expansion of anterior ethmoid air cells, with areas of pseudo-pneumatized in T2W on the right side.
Frothy appearance of the right maxillary sinus.
Obliteration of frontal sinuses with hyperintense T2W signal, no significant altered signal intensity of adjacent brain parenchyma.
Paranasal sinuses show mucosal enhancement post-contrast.
Hypertrophy of nasal turbinates
Case Discussion
The left sphenoid sinus shows a pseudo-pneumatized sign, suggestive of fungal sinusitis. Expansion of left sphenoid sinus is suggestive of mucocele.
