Diagnosis almost certain

Presentation

Vague knee pain.

Patient Data

Age: 40 years
Gender: Male

Left Knee

mri

Atypical cystic lesion favoring ganglion cyst, involving the posterior distal femur abutting posterior cortex of distal femur with close proximity to popliteal artery, vein, and nerve. Horizontal undersurface tear of the posterior horn and body segment of the medial meniscus with adjacent synovitis.

Case Discussion

Given its proximity to neurovascular structures, surgical intervention presents challenges and is not preferred due to the difficult anatomical location and minimal symptoms. Instead, radiologically guided drainage coupled with cortisone injection is recommended for symptom alleviation.
