Confirms non-displaced, incomplete right subcapital femoral neck fracture with mild impaction and valgus angulation. Findings are best seen in the coronal plane.

The Garden classification system, based on the appearance of the fracture on an AP radiograph, is used to grade subcapital femoral neck fractures.

Case Discussion

The Garden classification system is used to guide treatment of subcapital femoral neck fractures. Non-displaced fractures are often treated with cannulated screws, as in this case. Displaced fractures are often treated with hip arthroplasty.
