Large inflamed diverticulum arising from the ileum, with surrounding fat stranding. In addition, there is a small extraluminal gas denoting perforation. No intra-abdominal collections.
Free fluid in pelvis.
Diverticulosis of the colon, without diverticulitis.
Case Discussion
The CT findings are consistent with ileal diverticulitis with free extraluminal gas, suggesting diverticular perforation. A 10 cm intestinal resection was performed, confirming the diagnosis of acute diverticulitis.
