Liver laceration and subcapsular collection

Presentation

Fell in front of horse. Abdominal injury. Unwell. Hypotensive.

Patient Data

Age: 13 years
Gender: Female

The active liver bleeding was treated with the insertion of 3 coils by the interventional radiologist. Improvement in clinical state following treatment and resuscitation including blood.

The MRI confirms the large subcapsular liver collection with the large liver laceration that extends to the hilum. The subcapsular collection contains T2-hyperintense fluid and signal dropout from blood products.
