Presentation
Painfull swelling of the left leg with redness of the lateral aspect.
Patient Data
There is an ill-defined lytic lesion of the proximal fibular metaphysis with cortical interruption toward the growth plate and medial cortex with a large circumferential perifibular collection of heterogeneous content and peripheral enhancement, measuring 10.5 x 5 x 3.5 cm and extending to the adjacent muscles.
Bubbly lucent intracortical defect with peripheral sclerosis of the medial aspect of the femur (length = 35 mm) suggestive of non-ossifying fibroma (incidental finding).
Case Discussion
CT features most consistent with osteomyelitis of the proximal fibular metaphysis with periosseous abscess formation extending to the adjacent muscles.
