Presentation
Progressive back swelling following spinal surgery
Patient Data
A large well-defined extraspinal fluid collection extends dorsally from the region of bony defect coursing through the deep muscular fascia into subcutaneous fat. The collection communicates with the cerebrospinal fluid space of the spinal canal and the signal intensity of the collection follows CSF in all the sequences. Post-contrast image depicts continued homogeneity and lack of enhancement of the collection .
Case Discussion
Pseudomeningocele represents an abnormal collection of cerebrospinal fluid which communicates with the arachnoid space. By far the commonest etiology is iatrogenic following inadvertent dural injury during surgery.
