There is a greenstick fracture of the distal third of the radius shaft with subtle dorsally angulated distal bone fragment.

Case Discussion

This case demonstrates a radial greenstick fracture, an incomplete fracture of long bones with cortical breach of only one side of the bone, which occurs in tandem with angulation. It is usually seen in young children, more commonly those less than 10 years of age. The fracture is commonly mid-diaphyseal and affects the forearm and lower leg.

Children typically do not require surgery for most forearm fractures, unlike adults. The amount of acceptable angulation after closed reduction varies depending on the child's age.
