On the frontal scout view, the tip of the catheter is projected onto the SVC, while the lateral scout view shows a posterior course of the tip of the catheter in projection of the posterior mediastinum.
The CT san images show a malpositioned right subclavian central venous catheter crossing above the subclavian vein and medial to the subclavian artery with its tip terminating in the pleural space.
Large right pleural effusion with passive atelectasis of the adjacent lung.
Small mediastinal lymphadenopathy. No lung metastasis (lung window not shown).
Irregular circumferential thickening with enhancement of the antropyloric region infiltrating the perigastric fat (known gastric adenocarcinoma). No distant metastasis.
