Aaron sign is a clinical sign that is defined as a feeling of distress and pain in the epigastric, umbilical and praecordial regions, on steady pressure over McBurney point, it is suggestive of chronic appendicitis.
History and etymology
Charles Dettie Aaron (1866–1951) was an American gastroenterologist who described this eponymous sign in a paper in 1913, "A sign indicative of chronic appendicitis”. However no studies have ever validated this sign, and therefore whilst it may suggest chronic appendicitis, it cannot be said to be indicative of it 1.
