Drooping lily sign (ureter)

Last revised by Ryan Thibodeau on 19 Oct 2024

The drooping lily sign is a radiographic finding observed in certain cases involving a duplicated renal collecting system. It describes the inferolateral displacement of the opacified lower pole moiety, typically caused by an obstructed (and therefore unopacified) upper pole moiety.

The reduced number of calyces present in the lower pole moiety emphasises the sign's resemblance to a lily, contributing to its characteristic appearance.
