The spinoglenoid notch is located on the superior and posterior aspect of the scapula.
Gross anatomy
Relations and/or boundaries
The spinoglenoid notch is a connection between the infraspinatus fossa and the supraspinatus fossa, which are divided by the scapular spine.
The notch is formed lateral to the point which the spine extrudes from the scapula, with the spinoglenoid ligament (also known as the inferior transverse scapular ligament) forming a foramen by passing from the lateral aspect of the scapular spine to the posterior part of the glenoid 3.
The suprascapular nerve and artery passes through the notch on their course over the scapula.
