Tuberculum-venous confluence line

Last revised by Magdi Mahsoub on 13 Mar 2025

The tuberculum-venous confluence line is a midsagittal line formed by the interconnection between the Galenic venous confluence (which includes the internal cerebral veins, the mesencephalic veins, and the basal veins of Rosenthal) and the tuberculum sella 1.

This is an artificial reference line rather than an anatomic line as the incisural line 1.

It is used in combination with incisural line as references in central incisural herniation ref.

The mamillary body, iter (the porus of the cerebral aqueduct), and the splenium of corpus callosum should be above these lines, if inbetween or below, it indicates central incisural herniation 1.
