The anterolateral upper leg over the head of the fibula shows a well-defined, mixed solid and cystic lesion, oval-shaped with cord-like continuation at the upper and lower end of the lesion at the expected location of the superficial peroneal nerve.
Case Discussion
The ultrasound findings are very convincing of a peripheral nerve sheath tumor of the superficial peroneal nerve; a cystic component and eccentricity favor a schwannoma over a neurofibroma.
