Intra-articular avulsion fracture of the dorsal aspect of the base of the distal phalanx of the 5th finger.
Case Discussion
Mallet finger is a triangular avulsion fragment fracture at the insertion of the common extensor tendon on the dorsal aspect of the distal phalanx at the DIP joint.
Usually treated by a splint maintaining the DIP joint in fixed hyperextension.
