The image sequence and cine recording shows the lateral aspect of the knee in a longitudinal orientation, while the color gain is gradually increased. Initially only a small amount of actual vascular flow signal is present, while with an inappropriately increased color gain spurious color noise starts to appear. This however does not affect all areas equally, as hypoechogenic, darker regions demonstrate increased color noise. The causing factor is the color-write priority which represents a threshold above which no B-mode (grayscale) pixels can be overwritten by color signal.
