Discussion:
- Phalangeal fractures result from direct trauma (hammer, heavy object) or catching a finger in a closing door, or the toe is crushed between two rigid bodies.
- Distal phalanx fractures are often accompanied by injury to the nail bed, nail avulsion, or subungual hematoma.
