Presentation
Abdominal pain.
Patient Data

Multiple vascular structures are seen in the region of the portal vein, which enhance during the portal venous phase and not during the arterial phase, inferring cavernous transformation of the portal vein. Several collateral vessels are also evident at perigastric and distal paraesophageal regions.
The prostate gland is enlarged.
Degenerative changes as osteophytosis are seen at the lumbar spine.
Case Discussion
Cavernous transformation of the portal vein is a sequela of portal vein thrombosis and is the replacement of the normal single channel portal vein with numerous tortuous venous channels.
