The MRI sequenes demonstrate:

  • caudal descent of the cerebellar tonsils through the foramen magnum (18 mm below the foramen magnum) with obliteration of the cisterna magna in keeping with Chiari I malformation
  • central cystic cavity of the cervical spinal cord diameter = 7 mm) extending from the C2 to T6 in keeping with a syrinx.
