Presentation
Myalgia, nasal congestion, dry cough, shortness of breath, pain, and tightness in the chest over the last 6 days.
Patient Data
There are bilateral, multilobar areas of ground-glass opacities with round morphology, associated with superimposed inter and intralobular septal thickening resulting in the crazy-paving pattern. The lesions are mostly in the peripheral parts of the lungs.
No pleural effusion, neither enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes.
Case Discussion
COVID-19 is a disease caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2 1-5. Chest CT may provide information about the severity of the infection and determine the disease's temporal stage 1-5. Chest CT findings in stage 2 (progressive stage, 5-8 days from symptoms onset), characterises by enlargement of the ground-glass opacities (GGOs) with crazy-paving pattern, occasionally with emerging consolidation. The distribution is predominantly in the posterior and peripheral parts of the lungs 1-5.
This case shows a patient with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 and the CT temporal findings of the progressive stage (stage 2) of COVID-19 pneumonia.
