Left knee pain following a motor vehicle collision.

Acute highly comminuted displaced fracture of the distal femur. Surrounding soft tissue swelling and subcutaneous emphysema.

Acute comminuted mildly displaced patellar fracture.

Mildly depressed medial plateau.

Moderate suprapatellar and infrapatellar effusion.

Soft tissue swelling surrounding the knee joint.

Case Discussion

This represents a case of a distal femoral fracture.

The patient underwent left patella open reduction and knee-spanning external fixation. Other procedures included left distal femur and tibial plateau closed reduction and knee-spanning external fixation.
