Presentation
Periodic episodes of pain in right hypochondrium, deteriorating after meals.
Patient Data
Two separate gallbladders are visualized with independent cystic ducts and a common one that is joining to CBD. The gallbladder that lies in the gallbladder fossa is more studded with stones and sludge.
The second gall bladder which lies in the adjacent hypochondrium shows a few tiny calculi without sign of any cholecystitis.
Intra and extrahepatic ducts are not dilated.
The pancreats is normal. No pancreatic duct dilatation or peripancreatic fat stranding.
Small-sized atrophic both kidneys with few cortical cysts due to known chronic kidney disease.
Case Discussion
Gallbladder duplication is a rare anatomic variant, that is depicted by the existence of an accessory gallbladder. There is no raised chance of malignancy or calculi as compared to a single gallbladder.
