Presentation
Breast feeding female presented with right breast swelling and painful palpable lumps
Patient Data

Three well circumscribed hypoechoic collections with thick echogenic mobile content & absent vascularity on Doppler scan (not shown) were noted within the lactating breast that showed prominent retro and peri-areolar ducts.
An inflammatory right axillary lymph node with mild cortical thickening was also noted.
Aspiration from the largest collection which was seen at the retroareolar region revealed milky fluid.
Case Discussion
Findings are impressive of galactocele.
Aspiration of milky fluid confirmed the diagnosis.
Breast abscess should be considered in the differential diagnosis, however abscess has a different clinical presentation, but can develop as a complication.
Lactating adenoma should also be considered as a differential in such cases, however it is always seen as a solid lesion and may show color flow within it on Doppler scan.
